Reporting to the Go National Commercial Lead with support from the Senior Newspaper Account Manager, this role will play a part in supporting the successful delivery of the Go National Change Programme, providing newspaper publisher support throughout a period of significant organisational growth and transformation.

As a Newspaper Business Manager, you will engage and manage trading relationships across a portfolio of Newspaper Publisher Accounts. Through direction of the Go National Commercial Lead and Senior Newspaper Account Manager, work with our external clients and across internal functions to resolve issues and support driving a best-in-class service whilst and maintaining service level agreements and contractual obligations throughout our business.

About the Role

• Provide support to the Go National Commercial Lead and Senior Newspaper Account Manager on defined Newspaper Publisher related tasks.
• Maintain a strong understanding and to support with account profitability, through sales, margin, costs and revenue and to ensure issues are managed in a cost-effective way
• To support in the delivery of contract strategy in line with business plan financials
• Query resolution and engage with internal functions to provide solutions for service issues raised whilst working to agreed guidelines and outputs
• Delivery of Newspaper Publisher service level requirements and contractual KPI’s within our business
• To ensure market leading/best in class solutions to our clients
• To support in the delivery of projects and initiatives that secure the perception of Smiths News’ market position in the supply chain
• Delivery of the agreed external communication strategy with our key Newspaper Publisher clients

About you

• Commercial capability – Sound understanding of cost and profitability drivers and a strong understanding of the commercial requirements of the business and a good strategic awareness to support with decision making. Day to day negotiation skills also required
• Strategic planning –Support the Business with key tasks in the delivery of functional plans
• Relationship management - customer focused with the ability to manage stake holder interests by networking externally and cross functionally to provide a market leading service
• Change management – to sell the benefits of change on direction from Senior Team in order to unlock efficiency and profitability
