Internal Communications Coordinator

Hybrid working - 60% of working week in our Swindon Head Office, the rest working from home.

Sitting within the Talent, Communication and Culture team, the role of the Communications Co-ordinator is to provide day to day support for our Communications Manager in delivering our internal communication strategies and plans. A key part of this will be supporting the management of our company intranet though creation of content & design of SharePoint site and analytics on engagement. Working closely with our Communications Coordinator for marketing, the role will also offer support and cover for marketing and external communications when needed.

About the Role:

  • Support the delivery of the internal communication strategy and plans
  • Write content for both print and digital including newsletters, intranet and company news posts
  • Support the ongoing development of content for the intranet portal, ensure relevant corporate communications content is shared and kept up to date.
  • Learn updates on software packages to strengthen the team's use of key platforms, e.g. SharePoint, Canva and Teams
  • Support the organisation and logistics for the quarterly Town Halls, aligning Executive Team diaries and co-ordinating content
  • Stay up to date on communication trends to provide recommendations and ideas
  • Managing enquiries into the communications ticket system, liaising with key people and managing timely responses
  • Admin support in budget planning and monitoring
  • Help and promote the Smiths News brand - making sure that all communication and materials meet the company’s brand guidelines

About you

  • A passion for language and an eye for design 
  • Strong copywriting and content skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with a great attention to detail
  • Confident user of Microsoft Packages including SharePoint
  • Strong team player
  • Experienced or keen to learn design tools such as Canva and Adobe software
